I came up with a new term yesterday without even trying. I guess that is just how genius works. It applies to me very well and I have used it many times. A few weeks ago I went pick up an 1958 Berkeley, (see the pictures on this very website). It is, as you can see, not in the best condition. We went to pick up another '58 Berk a couple of weeks later and brought it home. The wife was not impressed as usual. She asked "Why would you buy another piece of junk when you already have one?!" I told her it is simple arithmetic......one plus one equals one. Not hard to understand, right? I call it carithmetic now. It's pretty simple to explain. One car that's pretty good and three cars that are junk? One plus three equals one. Two cars that are pretty good and one for parts is two plus one equals two. I have an MGBGT that has parts from three cars at least. One plus three equals one (almost). I don't know why they don't teach this in schools. I guess they're too busy indoctrinating kids with the BS of global warming. This is good stuff! It could help kids someday pour large sums of money into pits called cars only to sell them for about a third less than invested. That's carithmetic also when you think about it. Invest two thousand dollars, drive two years, sell for fifteen hundred. Did you really "lose" money? I think not! You simply used it for the difference. Some of the lucky ones actually make a profit from this but it's rare. I know I rarely do. I guess the point is that carithmetic is all about fun and if it doesn't break you, go for it. If you come out with some sort of balance, you have done well.
